The iPad Show Episode 22 – Live with Possibilities

Dave Buchanan and Steve Bostedor hosted episode 22 of the “iPad Show” on Saturday, June 19th live from a Podcamp event with special guest Timothy Chaten, host of The iPad Possibilities Podcast.

The hosts discussed how the iPad can help with the planning and production of podcasts and covered the latest news.

Steve suggested that podcasters make use of “Documents To Go Premium” which is available for $11.99 on the App Store. The app allows for syncing of documents between a desktop operating system can the iPad. Users can also manage their show notes and save them to the cloud for collaboration.

Steve’s tip was related to preparing an iPad for a podcast. He suggested to kill any open tabs in Safari, move apps that you plan to show to the home screen, set the background to a solid color and to turn off push notifications.

Dave recommended NewsRack, which integrates Google Reader and delicious and said that podcasters can use the app to star stories for reading on a show. Tim recommended Evernote as a way to gather news throughout the week and to use the app to create show notes.

Apps related to recording from an iPad included Reel Director, Caster and Sound Slate.

The hosts also shared a way that users could record Skype calls on their iPad by using a technique with Google Voice.

News stories which were covered included Starbucks’ announcement to offer free Wi-Fi for users of all wireless devices, including the iPad. The hosts also discussed security issues on the iPad and the upcoming ruling from the U.S. Copyright Act and the Library of Congress to determine whether or not iPhone jailbreaking should be exempted from the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Podcast The iPad Show Ep 21: WWiDC

News items which were discussed included the lack of any real news about the iPad at the WWDC conference, the hack of AT&T which resulted in the leak of email addresses of 114,000 iPad 3G owners and the rumor that Apple might do two WWDC conferences each year.
